About Your Author
Your author experienced a series of TIAs or mini strokes over several years, one finally resulting in hospitalization.
The diagnosis at that time was cerebellar ataxia, unknown cause. Another neurologist, plus much more research, later determined and confirmed that the cause for his ataxia was a series of small strokes, the last of which doing the majority of damage.
After discharge following hospitalization, he could barely walk and used a walker, had problems with slurred speech and vision difficulities and had tremors that sometimes even kept him from clearly writing his own signature.
His son and friends moved him several states away to be nearer family (he has a wonderful, loving sister fortunately); and then he began the process of determining how to put his life together anew.
You can see here some of the results of his efforts.
This site reveals this author's work and research regarding ataxia, recovery after stroke, coping, living, and growing; and also how to make a living under new and challenging circumstances.
He has made remarkable progress; and although he still touches walls and other stable objects for balance sometimes and fights physical and mental fatigue, he is learning how to manage his ataxia and the after effects of stroke.
He exercises and stretches five days a week and is walking more and more, a little up hill and faster. He is also doing something he loves and enjoys . . . learning, writing about it, and helping others. He practices what he preaches herein; and he has developed an attitude that leads him joyfully into his new life.
He now has an excellent, caring doctor, wonderful family and, as we said, an attitude!
By sharing his progress with you in this way, it is hoped that he may also help and inspire others to believe.
